Why we study History
A high-quality history education will help students gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It should inspire students’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching should equip students to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History helps students to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

Our Aim
We aim to encourage our students to have an appreciation of the importance of History students through enquiry-based learning encouraging students to ask questions and delve deeper whilst utilising staff specialist subject knowledge to teach students both fundamental British values, whilst preparing them for challenges they will face in the wider world. We aim to develop student’s skills in critical thinking and challenge preconceptions, ideas and concepts. We also must include a solid foundation to prepare students for the rigorous demands of the GCSEs.
