Year 6 Transition

We are delighted that your child will be joining Oxted School in September 2020.

We find ourselves in very unusual circumstances and you will no doubt be wondering about your child's move into Year 7. We believe that there is no right or wrong way to manage the 'new normal' which we find ourselves in; however, we assure you that we are all in this together, and your child’s safety, well-being and enjoyment of school are and will remain our top priority.

We know we will have to adapt our Year 7 plans so that any learning missed in Year 6 is addressed. To help with this, we have been talking to Year 6 teachers to find out where your child has got to in the Year 6 curriculum, as well as finding out more about them as an individual. We have also put together some virtual transition sessions to help your child have a confident and positive start to secondary school.

We know that Year 6 pupils across the country are particularly anxious about their move into Year 7 this year. Our promise to you is that we will work together with you and your primary school to ensure your child's start to Year 7 is as exciting and positive as it can be.

You should have received an Admissions Pack and we ask that, if you have not already done so, you complete the  forms and return them to school as soon as possible.  Copies of the Admissions Pack can be found on the tabs on the right hand side of the page. If you have more than one child joining in Year 7, you will need to complete one set of forms for each child.

House Competition ... start earning House points over the summer

We can’t wait to find out more about our new students and we would love to know about what you are reading!   If you are up for a challenge, you can win points over the summer for your House.

All you have to do is to read a book and send in a review giving your opinions. Whether you are in Tenchleys, Grants, Foyles, Stocketts, or Detillens, every point counts towards the big competition which runs across the whole year.  Details of the competition can be found here

We are very much looking forward to reading your reviews over the summer, before welcoming you to school in September.

Happy reading!

SWOTS continue to adapt to new social distancing regulations to protect staff and customers and are now safely open for business, they have new safety measures and returns/exchange information which are detailed on their website.

During these challenging times and ahead of a planned full re-opening of schools in September, SWOTS expect July and August to be extremely busy so it is vital that parents and carers start thinking about their uniform requirements and order early to enable them to manage the volume efficiently.

We would encourage parents and carers to order early via the SWOTS website
